The HHD (Heavy Heavy Duty) model, specially designed with "oversized" technical solutions, represents Astra’s response to cope with extreme situations in which normal load and terrain conditions cease to exist and give way to Mauritanian Desert Dunes, jungles of Cameroon to the cold of Siberian winters, and extreme loading conditions.
The flexibility of its features and the endless possibilities (for configuration (short / long cabin, a wide range of gears and options) ) to customise it allow the realisation of a perfect setup for any onsite demand anywhere in the world, from logging to the construction sector, from mines to the transportation of heavy loads to the Oil & Gas sector.
Technical solutions realised in this model contribute to increase the strength, reliability and durability of the product, thereby increasing productivity. Among them - Kessler bridges with reinforced front and rear parabolic suspension; New front disc brakes for better steering angle and reduce operating costs; heavy reinforced chassis of two flat and parallel side members (320 x 90 x 10 mm) with the highest ratio of the bending strength of the competition for greater strength and stability in the most demanding operating conditions.

6x6 traction with 16 drive configurations available in chassis or tractor version which ensure the right response to power demands and agility.
Big Power and Torque:
Electronically controlled engine in Euro3 (Extraeurope) version, with powers from 480 to 540hp and radiators which allow ATB values up to 50°, suitable for tropical climates. In addition, there is the possibility, according to the gearbox used, to add supplementary radiators for particularly arduous applications.

Possibility of kitting out the vehicle with various types of severe-duty gearboxes, according to the mission and performance requested:

Chassis:
The strongest point of Astra vehicles, with flat parallel sidemembers in high resistance steel, to ensure the vehicle’s stability and make it easy to rig out with any type of equipment. The particular characteristics of these vehicles are therefore the elevated power and the strength of the following specific components:
- Heavy-duty axles, certificated to guarantee loads for a G.V.W. up to 50,000kg (10,000kg on the front and 40,000kg on the rear tandem) at a speed of 70km/h in the chassis version and a G.V.W. up to 250 tons with a vehicle equipped with WSK converter.
- Suspension: front and rear, reinforced parabolic.
- Steering System oversized derived from 4 axles vehicles with emergency steering cylinder.
- 14.00 R20 Tyres twinned at the rear, specially for earth moving, which allow it to maintain a maximum speed of 70km/h. Other tyres available (24.00 R20.5) for trails/sand at reduced speed.
